Hustling on Craigslist #2: $2,600 In One Click
Craigslist is a free classified site where people come to sell and buy things. It’s either Ebay or Craigslist that gets most of the traffic from highly motivated buyers. First off, if you do not have an account, or go on to either one of these, you’re not a hustler. This is the single most easiest place to find customers. It’s almost a given that your product can sell on either of these.
Before we go off on a tangent, and before I start scolding about the importance of Ebay or Craigslist - let’s focus on another method I use to sell more products on Craigslist. I made $2,600 in one week once and it’s still continuing to put money into my paypal account slowly and steadily.
I really like playing by the rules, but there are some rules that Hustler’s can break. We always look for a way or a loophole to make more money. If a rule doesn’t make sense, or if it is leniant - we take advantage of it. If you don’t do it with finesse or class - then you’re just a stealing chump and in no way you should consider yourself a Hustler. Hustler’s do have class believe it or not.
So we are going to learn a simple method on how to gather potential clients over time. Now this is one of the easiest and most effective ways I have made money on Craigslist. Sure you can flip products, but what if you can’t find anything to flip one week - that kills your cashflow.
Now let’s use one of my methods for an example.
There’s a product called Rane Serato. Rane Serato is a software that let’s DJs mix MP3s on their turntables. It connects to your laptop and reads the mp3 on the records on the turntable. Pretty cool piece of technology. DJs are eating up these things on Craigslist and on Ebay. It’s the new thing for DJing, because DJs are sick of paying $5.49 for a single on record, when they can download it for free and not to lug all those records to a party.
So being the savvy hustler I am, I know the current value that people are buying these for are $450-$525. That’s the fair market value for Rane Serato. I know that if I post something fairly close to that range or lower, I will get tons of interested buyers. So, I decide that I am going to post a Rane Serato (I don’t even have it to sell), and I list it for $375. $375?!?!?! That’s the first thing online shoppers are going to think.
“Oh crap, It’s so damn cheap, let me email this guy so I can buy it right now”
Off one Rane Serato post with that price of $375, I received 220 unique emails from targeted customers. Now you have 220 emails, and you know what they want to buy. Having those 220 unique emails is very powerful. You just captured vital data. Data that people would kill for. A lot of people think just because they have a hot product, they’ll become rich because people are going to flock to their products - only to find out they don’t know where to find their customers or how to communicate with them. This is the easiest marketing and communication tool you can ever have at your finger tips.
Now you can do many things with these emails.
The number one thing as a hustler is to see how you can service people. Remember, Epson, Sony, or many other big companies hardly make money on the big item (Printers, etc.) They make money on the accessories like ink cartridges. So what are we going to sell with the Rane Serato? What can we accessorize with the Rane Serato? What would these people want.
So with the 220 emails, I wait one month - because some of these 220 people will have already bought the Rane Serato software. Now’s the time to pitch them an accessory.
I chose to pitch them 20 DVDs filled with 10,000 DJ Friendly songs. This is 10,000 of the hottest party songs. Huge value to these DJs. They can play virtually any song that they want, when they want, and they will never run out of music. I purchased the DVDs from someone else for $100, and now I flip them for $200 each. I still get orders to this day and I ship out as fast as I can so these DJs will have them for their next gig.
What else can we pitch them?
That’s where you need to learn to be creative.
Find something you know about, start collecting emails, and then start pitching an accessory. Your accessory can be made from home, or it can be something of value that you can find cheap.

Where can I get a hold of these dvds? Hit me up I can pay.
interesting tactic, but then that’s not exactly a CAN-SPAM compliant email list is it? I mean, they didn’t authorize you to email them a month later and pitch them some accessory…
You’re right, but these are highly targeted prospects that 90% would be interested in even opening the email. I took the chance and everyone was happy.
What program do you use so your e-mails don’t turn up in junk ?
Nick, I take advantage of gmails free service. Copy all the emails and throw them all into the BCC section. This will email all of them blindly so they wont see who else is recieving the email.gmail usually lets you send 500 emails daily. You still can sign up for unlimited accounts. Take advantage.
